SECOND PHASE OF CHEN TAIJI QUAN
Once you've mastered the short form you'll be ready to learn the first long form of the system of Chen Style Taijiquan.. This form is what defines the art of Chen Taijiquan and is the basis of everything else. Without knowing and understanding Laojia yilu it is imposible to learn any other of the forms correctly or understand tuishou. While most of it's movements are slow there are also some sudden outbursts of explosive power or "Fa jin"..

Traditional form of 74 movements
More complex exercises to work towards free pushhands Short and powerful set of the first weapon: Broadsword

THE THIRD PHASE OF CHEN TAIJI QUAN
When you understand the entire form of Laojia Yilu and can practice it respecting the requisites of the style, the time will have come to move on to the next level. You can learn other weapons and “LAOJIA ERLU” or the second open hand form that is also known as "PAO CHUI” (Cannon hammers) which is very explosive and moves a lot faster than the first one.
In Tuishou you'll understand the use of the various energies on new levels and you should be able to apply the concepts of Taiji in free pushhands.
Be able to use the concepts of taiji in free tuishou
|Jian (straight sword), Da Dao, Shuang Dao,..|
The beauty of the system of chen taiji is that it only has two open hand forms and that once you've mastered the first one you can learn anything in a short amount of time. In China it is said "If Laojia is Yilu bad, everything is bad, When Laojia Yilu is good you learn any other form in two weeks".
Later when you have proficient understanding of form and pushhands you can proceed to learn the even more complicated forms of Xinjia or new frame.
